Bogor reservoir is located between Girinyono Hamlet and Blubuk Hamlet in Sendangsari Village, Pengasih District, Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. This reservoir serves purposes such as irrigation, conservation, and tourism. Bogor reservoir can hold approximately 30,000 cubic meters of water and supplies irrigation water for an area of 40 hectares of rice fields.
Initially, Bogor reservoir went viral thanks to a photo posted on social media featuring the backdrop of the overflow waterfall of Bogor reservoir. The photo quickly spread across social media, sparking curiosity and prompting people to visit Bogor reservoir to take pictures, swim, or simply enjoy the natural scenery.
To accommodate the increasing number of visitors, local residents have voluntarily organized community service activities at the Bogor reservoir site to improve access. Currently, there are no entrance fees for those wishing to visit Bogor reservoir. The management, consisting partly of local youths, voluntarily assists visitors who want to take photos, considering the slippery and fast-flowing conditions during high water levels.
